The Most Important Meal Of The Day

Breakfast

According to surveys, more than half of the population of the United Kingdom skip breakfast. Studies also show that people who do eat breakfast tend to be thinner than those who don’t. One-fifth of the population is now classified as being obese, so it’s time that people stopped skipping the most important meal of the day. A nutritious breakfast is vital to start off the day, and will give you a needed energy boost to ensure good performance during the day. A good breakfast is also the key to maintaining a healthy lifestyle and weight.

When we skip breakfast, we are often prone to unhealthy snacking before lunch when we start getting hungry. Many of us are under the illusion that a skipped meal will lead to weight loss, but the energy gotten from breakfast are what keeps us going all morning. The snacks before lunch are the main culprits to weight gain, and could easily be avoided if you are satiated with a healthy breakfast.

Although a time factor is a common excuse for skipping breakfast, there are always ways around this. It does not take very long to eat a piece of toast or a bowl of cereal in the morning. If you really do struggle to free up a few minutes, you may want to consider making a breakfast to go the night before. This was you can eat it on the way to work or as soon as you get there.  You should base your breakfast on starchy foods, including cereal and bread. These will release energy slowly throughout the day, as well as giving you the necessary vitamins and nutrients. If possible, try to include some fruit in your diet, such as banana on your cereal or yoghurt on the side.
